Training dog breeds the easy way

Training dog breeds like Labradors and Golden Retrievers is easier than training dog breeds like German Shepherds and Beagles... maybe.

Dogs are descended from wolves, and interact with their owners in the same way that wolves behave in a pack. "In wolf packs, there are alpha males, alpha females and then the rest of the pack. The alphas do everything first because they are the leaders." according to Rob Wolk, who teaches dog training classes in the City of Carlsbad.

Training dog breeds obedience

Teaching a dog obedience really involves several steps, and the first is to educate the owner.

As your dogs owner, when you allow him to sleep on your bed or your lounge, you are actually telling him that he is your equal. This can cause all sorts of problems later on, like aggressive, disruptive behavior and disobedience.

Once you establish who is boss you can show your dog what you expect of him, by teaching him some simple commands, like "Sit" and Stay". When he obey's these simple commands, it's important to reinforce his good behavior, either with a treat, or by verbally praising him.

Training dog breeds obedience, gives them direction and teaches them to follow your commands. This leads them to see you as the "alpha" dog. This is the foundation upon which good behavior is built, and learning it makes training dog breeds so much easier.
